Valentine’s day

Article Written By Natalie Nagy , Year 10

Valentine’s day: It’s that special (and occasionally terrifying) time of year for friends, couples and families to acknowledge their love and appreciation for one another.

As a relatively new student at QACI, I honestly didn’t know what to expect of this day. I was terrified people wouldn’t even participate - and gosh was I wrong! Many enjoy stereotyping Valentine’s Day as a commercialist holiday emplaced just to shame those without partners, but one walk through the bustling hallways of QACI and any such mindsets would instantly change.

See, the special thing about this cohort is our ability to apply QACI Culture and Care to anything within our reach. Take, for example, this day in February;

- Lining each hallway were little bags for “warm and fuzzies,” which entailed leaving notes for your nearest and dearest (a beloved tradition within our gosling clan). In fact, each student selflessly dedicated themselves to delivering special moments for their peers, whether in the form of a serenade, flowers, chocolates, or even a warm and fuzzy note.

- Carefully curated lunch specials emanated festive cheer with their artisanal red-and-pink themes and heart toppers, whilst the hug cam, serenading, and face painting were introduced, with roaring success.

- Finally, sales for red & pink accessories peaked tenfold as each pupil donned ribbons, rings, necklaces, bows and more- you name it, it was there!
Rest assured, our teachers weren’t forgotten either, with each receiving a bag of heartfelt messages and sweet treats to reinforce our appreciation of their hard work and dedication.

Overall, I can confidently state that the magic of Valentine’s Day was alive and thriving at QACI in 2024, with the creation of several lifelong memories and bonds for all relationship types. It is with great impatience that I await to see what new and exciting ventures next year will bring: After all, what better celebration to start off the year than one of love?
