Queensland Academies Creative Industries (QACI) is a proudly inclusive community of innovative and creative thinkers who seek opportunities to ignite their curiosity, develop global and intercultural perspectives and foster a love of lifelong learning.
Whilst not imitating the stereotypical nature of a state school environment, QACI opened its 7 storey state-of-the-art purpose-designed campus in 2007. Located in Kelvin Grove Urban Village within 2km of inner-city Brisbane, students enjoy campus life in a multicultural village environment with shared green, business and education spaces co-located in the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) creative industries precinct.
We are a selective entry independent senior state high school for students in Years 10–12, attracting a diverse range of students with shared attributes and interests. QACI learners seek a rich and integrated academic curriculum and collaborative learning experiences. Our students study towards an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma - an internationally recognised pre-university level qualification, enabling learners to work toward achievements based on merit in a non-competitive environment.
Our sense of teamwork and collaboration is captured in an analogy called The Sense of the Goose and when joining the QACI flock students choose to develop the attributes of the IB Learner Profile.
As a student at QACI you receive earned autonomy to make the most of your unique learning opportunities and environment. By demonstrating integrity and respect, you are given trust and responsibility. We’ve developed a culture of honesty at QACI that most schools might be shocked by. We have never had locks on our lockers; our valuables are treated with respect. Our school is not marked with graffiti, and we use swipe cards for access around the building. We are expected to step up to be all we can be, and so we do. It is the privilege and culture of earned autonomy that is quite unique to QACI. We enjoy a certain amount of freedom.
With access to specialist facilities, we have borrowing privileges at QUT library, there is off-campus access to the park and local gymnasium. By maintaining our integrity and respect we in turn are afforded trust and responsibility.
