Each year QACI students gather at the Valley Pool for a fun day in the sun for AQUAFEST, our version of a whole school swimming carnival.
For the graduating cohort of 2024, this was their last Aquafest. It was an immersive and fun experience with a bit of competition. As always, it was great to see everyone in their House colours engaged fully in the QACI experience. Seeing all the students and teachers swimming and dancing in V-formation really brought the inner goose of everyone into spirit.
The theme of the creative synchronised swimming dances was ‘We are invincible’. Each House within their respective groups of a Year 10 Dance, a Year 11 and 12 Dance created and choreographed their dances with their fantastic creative abilities. This year, everyone had brought their creative arsenal into the competition with the smooth dance moves coordinated by the House Managers.
After each of the Houses performed their dances, the Teacher Dance, the main spectacle of the events, was an enjoyable performance for everyone. Although everyone’s dances were fantastic and evoked a real sense of QACI spirit, Èveiller came out on top with Matjiin and Vivezza closely behind.
The fun events continued in the pool with events such as the Whelay Whale Race and the Sardine Swim. It was great to see everyone have fun pushing the whale along the pool and enjoying a great time with their friends. The swimming races were a close contested competition with Èveiller narrowly finishing first. Overall Èveiller took the win for QACI's Swimming Carnival - Aquafest.
It was great to see everyone having fun in a semi-competitive scene and relaxing from the rigour of the IB journey and especially the Year 12s, who were enthusiastic about their last official school swimming carnival - Aquafest.
