Congratulations to Hayes in Year 12 who was  selected to attend the 30th National Schools Constitutional Convention (NSCC) at the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House, Canberra earlier this year.

Hayes is one of 120 Year 11 and 12 students from around Australia who attended the event where students will have the opportunity to examine Sections 51ii and 90 of the Australian Constitution and the fiscal relations between the Commonwealth and the states.

It’s really exciting to be chosen as one of 20 or so QLD delegates going to Canberra. As you can imagine, for someone who read the Constitution recreationally in Grade 8, it’s like all my legislative and political Christmases have come at once! I think I’d most like to come away from this, not just with a deepened understanding of the Constitution, but also with connections to other like-minded people across the country. I’m very excited to hear from people with all sorts of different perspectives from all over Australia!”

– Hayes Butler-Dupuy, Year 12
