In the very first week of my QACI journey I went on school camp along with the rest of my grade 10 cohort! If I was asked to describe the camp with one word I would say that I couldn't, because there was such large a variety of different experiences I had, memories I made and emotions I felt throughout this week. The first thing I noticed on the camp was how welcoming and accommodating all the teachers and grade 11 mentors were. They made me feel so included so quickly and I immediately started to embrace the QACI community!
By the first night what felt like a million new friendships and connections had blossomed and I was already looking forward to the amount of memories that I would make with these new friends over the years. By far my three highlights of the camp were playing beach volleyball, going swimming and participating in the talent show. Volleyball was so fun! I let a libero borrow my sunglasses, met my now best friend while playing on a team with him and perfectly received more serves that I can count. Swimming in the pool was a great way to meet new people too and I had way too much fun watching Mr Brockman jump in the water to do a dance routine! And finally, by far my favourite memory from the whole trip was the talent show. I performed a song from Wicked, and the support from the crowd was like no other. My ears literally started ringing from how loud everyone cheered, not just for my act but all 20 performances!
In summary, I had the best time and made some life long friendships. The QACI community isn't like anywhere else I've ever been and I can't express the amount of love and support that is in this incredible group of individuals.
