This year, thirteen QACI students had the opportunity to participate in CGEN Creative Generation - State Schools Onstage. Performances took place at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre Friday & Saturday, with students attending in a broad range of roles including featured choir, featured & backing vocalists, orchestra, drama, musical theatre, dance, drum line and stage crew. Congratulations to Elise, Lilian, Sasha, June, Jessica, Hazelyn, Lauren, Milla, Charlene, Flo, Gilbee, Rori and Josie for their efforts in this year’s spectacular event!
We asked students to share their thoughts on their CGEN experiences!👇
“Being a member of the 2025 CGEN stage crew has allowed for me to get a true taste of the AV tech and staging industry from a professional perspective. Working with industry professionals and the rest of the incredibly talented cast on such a large production has been a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I'll carry with me for many years to come." - Elise, Year 11
“CGEN has been a very rewarding and gratifying experience for me; it's been so amazing collaborating with a group of people that truly enjoy what they do in the creative arts space to put on such an amazing show. It's a great opportunity to connect with others your age and be a part of such an amazing community of like-minded individuals.” - Lilian, Year 11
“This was my fifth year in the CGEN company choir, it’s always been an event I have looked forward too as the adrenaline rush can’t be matched anywhere else and the community we make is truly incredible. My biggest piece advice is even if the rehearsals can seem like a lot, it is all worth it when you get to perform.“ - Sasha, Year 11
“CGEN 2025 has been an amazing experience and an incredible opportunity to grow as a performer. It was also great to meet and to perform alongside so many talented and amazing people.” - June, Year 11
“As Queensland’s largest youth preforming arts event, CGen allows me to work with industry professionals and likeminded students to create a fantastic showcase of state school talent! The CGen drama cast creates a narrative for the showcase, and this year was based around fairytales so I played peter pan and a narrator! I’m so grateful for all the friendships and actor training the show brings for me and I encourage everyone to give it a go!” - Jessica, Year 11
“CGEN was truly the best performance I have ever done! Show week was tiring but phenomenal and I would do this all over again!” - Hazelyn, Year 10
"CGEN this year was an amazing experience, I met so many wonderful people and learnt so much from everyone there!" - Lauren, Year 10
“My CGEN experience was truly amazing, as I met such amazing people and had such a good time.” - Milla, Year 10
“CGEN was an amazing experience, making lifetime friends and memories, and I can't wait to do it again next year!” - Charlene, Year 10
“For my first experience of CGEN my only regret was not starting sooner.”
-Gilbee, Year 11
