Adam Charters
Class of 2021
Psychology Candidate and Research Assistant
BPsySc (Hons I), QLD
For Adam Charters, curiosity has always been a driving force. With interests spanning psychology, health, social justice and human behaviour, his journey has been shaped by a desire to better understand people and make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
During his time at Queensland Academies Creative Industries, Adam was recognised for both his academic achievement and commitment to community. As the recipient of the Spirit of QACI and International Mindedness Award, as well as Academic Student of the Year, he embraced opportunities to learn, lead and support others.
The International Baccalaureate programme encouraged Adam to think broadly, explore complex ideas and make connections across disciplines. These experiences laid the foundation for a pathway that would eventually lead him into the field of clinical neuropsychology.
Following QACI, Adam pursued a Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) at The University of Queensland, where he combined academic excellence with research focused on neurological conditions including dementia and Parkinson’s disease. His outstanding academic performance saw him awarded the University Medal for Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours), an honour recognising the top five per cent of first-class honours graduates. His research has contributed to a growing understanding of how cognitive health impacts people’s lives and wellbeing.
Today, Adam is continuing his advanced studies in Clinical Psychology and Clinical Neuropsychology, preparing for a career that combines research, evidence-based practice and compassionate care. His goal is to support individuals and families navigating complex neurological and psychological challenges while contributing to advances in the field.
Adam’s journey is a powerful reminder that success is not defined by a single pathway. By remaining curious, embracing opportunities and staying committed to making a positive impact, he continues to demonstrate how learning can be used to improve lives and create meaningful change.
