Join us for the opening night of exIBit 2026, the Queensland Academy for Creative Industries' annual Year 12 Visual Art Exhibition, celebrating the creativity, dedication and artistic voices of our graduating Visual Art students.
This highly anticipated exhibition showcases the culmination of two years of rigorous research, conceptual development and studio practice. Through painting, sculpture, photography, installation, drawing, printmaking and mixed media, students present resolved bodies of work that explore contemporary social, historical, cultural and environmental issues through deeply personal perspectives.
As emerging artists, the Class of 2026 invite audiences to engage with works that challenge assumptions, spark conversation and reflect the diverse experiences and ideas that have shaped their artistic journeys throughout the International Baccalaureate Visual Arts course.
We are honoured to welcome acclaimed Waanyi artist Gordon Hookey as our guest speaker for the evening. A founding member of the Brisbane-based Indigenous arts collective proppaNOW, Gordon is recognised nationally and internationally for his bold, thought-provoking practice spanning painting, sculpture, installation, drawing and photography. Over the past four years, Gordon has also been a valued member of the QACI community, working closely with our Visual Art students through workshops and as one of our Artists in Residence. His mentorship has inspired and challenged students to deepen their artistic practice while exploring the power of art as a vehicle for storytelling, identity and social commentary.
