The
IB Diploma curriculum is modelled by a Diploma Curriculum Framework
with six (6) academic areas surrounding the three IB Core requirements.
Over the course of the 2 year Diploma Programme, students:
Students of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme must study six subjects:
three (3) of the six (6) subjects studied at High Level (courses representing 240 teaching hours)
the remaining three (3) subjects are studied at Standard Level (courses representing 150 teaching hours)
The six subjects do not include TOK, CAS and EE and must be chosen from the six academic areas outlined below.
Language A - English A Language and Literature
Language Acquisition / Language B - French, Korean, Spanish, Mandarin, Language B
Individuals and Societies - Business Management, Environmental Systems and Societies, Psychology, Global Politics.
Sciences - Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Systems and Societies, Design Technology.
Mathematics - Applications and Interpretations; Analysis and Approaches
The Arts - Dance, Music, Theatre, Visual Arts, and Film.
Please note the following:
In Year 10 at QACI, Biology, Chemistry, ESS, and Physics are combined as one single multi-stringed science subject (Science).
In Year 10 at QACI, Mathematics is combined as one single mathematics subject incorporating the Year 10A National Curriculum content.
Students are able to study two subjects from Sciences instead of studying a subject from The Arts.
Students are able to study two subjects from The Arts instead of studying a subject from the Sciences. In this case, students must study Environmental, Systems and Societies (ESS) in Individuals and Societies as their transdisciplinary Science Subject.
