Daisy Goodwin graduated from Queensland Academies Creative Industries (QACI) in 2013 after achieving her International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma and developing a signature creative identity in Visual Arts and Film.
Whilst studying Environmental Systems and Societies as part of her IB Diploma, Daisy developed a passion for science and chose to pursue a Bachelor of Environmental Science at Bond University under a Bond 25th Anniversary Scholarship. Graduating with a High Distinction, Daisy set her sights on a career in environmental science. Here is her story:
Daisy heard about QACI through a friend at her previous school who recommended it because of her interest in Visual Arts. Deciding to follow her interest and take on a new challenge, Daisy applied and was accepted to study Visual Arts and Film.
Of the IB Diploma Program, Daisy describes it as a challenge and the right preparation for tertiary study. The research and writing of the Extended Essay, for example, set Daisy up to tackle even the most difficult of university assignments as a critical and reflective thinker; attributes of an IB Learner that resonate with Daisy’s QACI experience.
Daisy graduated from Bond early in 2016 and set off for some adventure backpacking around Europe. Last we heard from Daisy she was on her way across outback Australia to take up a position in Perth as a Development Officer with the Western Australia Department of Agriculture and Food. Later this year this position will take Daisy to Broome to work with indigenous livestock businesses to improve their environmental and economic sustainability.
