Year 10 Camp
In the first week of school, the new Year 10 QACI Flock (including myself!) had an amazing time attending camp and experiencing the QACI culture. We had the fantastic opportunity to get to know each other, build new friendships, connect with teachers, and participate in fun activities. Some of my personal favourites were Just Dance, morning walks on the beach, and the talent show!
But throughout camp the one thing that really stood out was the warmth of the QACI spirit, and how it welcomed us all into this school. I especially felt this during the talent show – not only were the performers incredibly talented, but the encouragement and energy from the audience made it so much more remarkable. As someone who loves to perform, I had to take the opportunity to join the talent show! But let me tell you now, this was not like any other performance, and proved to be a whole new experience. From the moment I walked on stage, everyone was cheering and clapping. making the whole performance so much more worth it. Even though we were still a new cohort, full of unknown people, it was incredible just how supportive and united we all are.
Another special moment was Just Dance – it didn’t matter if you were a dancer or not, everyone got involved and encouraged each other to have fun! Writing notes for everyone’s “warm and fuzzy” bags was another highlight. Seeing everyone write special messages to each other, and the joy that flooded the room when people read their notes was such a heartfelt moment.
On the last day of camp, I remember a lot of people saying that they wished they could stay for longer, proving just how amazing it truly was. As someone who has been through trauma during camp (I fell off the rocks...), I’m so glad I didn’t skip out on this one. All I can say is this is not like any other camp you’ll ever hear about or attend – this is a QACI CAMP, and I’m so glad that I got to know so many people on camp and made such strong and remarkable memories with everyone around me.
