Celebrated between 17 – 23 March, Harmony week is wholeheartedly centred around the core concept that everyone belongs, something treasured both in QACI, and amongst the nation.
Before we get into the QACI version of this special event though, first, a couple quotes from our new cultural ambassadors concerning the intrinsic importance of this week.
“When life gets so busy, we forget to acknowledge and celebrate our heritage that makes up such big parts of our identities. And, let's not forget it's just as important to learn about other cultures." - Thulasy, Grade 11
“Harmony Week is all about celebrating Australia's cultural diversity, and promoting inclusiveness, respect, and a sense of belonging for all Australians, regardless of where we come from. It focuses on creating a sense of unity and understanding among culture and societies, something that we know QACI is amazing at showing!" – Maggie, Grade 11
In line with the theme “Harmony – We all have a role to play!" activities over five school days included:
The sharing of assorted candy flowers, ribbons and cultural foods, an incredible interactive African drumming experience, a karaoke-and-dance session, and to finish off the week, the fan favourite- free dress!
The option of donning orange or cultural clothing come Friday was an opening for students to embrace the multicultural and open-minded nature we hold here, allowing us to target celebrating the uniqueness that makes the world so special.
Overall, a big thank you to our cultural ambassadors, staff members and students who dedicated immense time and effort into this special week.
