The Queensland Academies Creative Industries invites you to attend Living Libraries.
In their first public theatre performance the Year 10 Ensemble will take over the corners and pockets of the State Library Queensland (SLQ).
Based on the global movement of living libraries where people, instead of books, are checked out to create mutual understanding through the act of storytelling, this performance promises to be one of the Academy’s most intimate and moving works.
Drawing on their personal narratives the Year 10 Ensemble will engage with members of the general public to create brief moments of personal exchange. Each performer will take on the role of a living book. Audience members can come in and ‘borrow’ a performer out. Performer and audience will then travel to a specific location to begin a unique experience of performance story exchange.
These powerful, personal tales create a rich history of our community.
Audience members are invited to meet near the main entrance to the State Library of Queensland (SLQ) 15 minutes prior to their scheduled session.
Please note that this is a site specific, duration performance with no seating.
No Bookings are necessary, but please allow between 90-120 minutes to see the various performances.
