Year 10 Slam Poetry
Classroom fun with George Orwell’s Animal Farm

Slam Poetry – originally a competition where people read their poems without props, costumes, or music before an audience, who then serve as the judging panel on the manner, enthusiasm, content and style of the poem.

Earlier this year, students in Year 10 studied the George Orwell book Animal Farm as part of their pre-IB English curriculum. Exploring creativity and generally just having some classroom fun, the students were introduced to Slam Poetry to further cement their knowledge and assist with their analysis of the book.
