This week staff from the DET Cybersafety and Reputation Management Team presented a workshop for our Year 10 students. Students were made aware of cybersafety and the law, securing social media sites and the impact of posting without thinking. The DET staff demonstrated how to use privacy settings on Apple and Android devices and raised awareness of support services to access if issues arise. The workshop followed on from classwork where students and teachers discussed managing online safety and digital footprints.
From next week each class on a rotational basis will visit the QUT Library and will receive QUT Library borrowing cards. Students will be escorted by their teacher to the Library – a 3 minute walk- and will then explore the collections and resources available. Additionally, students will be able to borrow from the QUT Library as of next week. Other learning modules in this term’s IBL ICT Program include QACI Library Induction, research skills and academic honesty and creating digital content using iBooks author.
