Queensland Academies Creative Industries (QACI) would like to congratulate Vincent D’Amico, for his recent win at the Australian National Eisteddfod in Canberra during the September school holidays. Vincent was the lucky winner of several gold medals, claiming awards for poetry, reading at sight, religious reading, news reading, prose reading, character recitals, and the improvisation/mime challenge in the 15-16 year age group. Vincent won the highest number of gold medals at the Australian National Eisteddfod for 2017.
During his performances, Vincent was able to introduce elements of his Environmental Systems and Societies investigation into his performance, talking about the effect of acid rain on seedling germination. Vincent studies both Film and Theatre at QACI, both courses being holistic in nature and focusing on the integration of all performance and production elements. Vincent is proud of his achievement and says “This really meant a lot to me because I have worked hard to win this achievement.”
We must also congratulate Vincent on his recent efforts in the Queensland Youth ShakeFest – where he competed against 162 other students across Queensland; drawn together to celebrate the works of William Shakespeare.
