Welcome to 2018. A new initiative to better understand our Year 12 students and to share their wonderful stories we introduce a new segment – On the Couch with the Year 12s…
We give you 5 minutes with Bridget Webb.
Why did you decide to come to QACI?
I came to QACI because I have always had a creative focus no matter the subject and viewed my education though an artistic lens. I had a growing passion for Theatre so QACI seemed to make sense.
What is your ‘Arts’ specialty?
I study Theatre and Design.
You worked on a very exciting film project last year. Can you tell us a little bit about that?
So, last year in June I was cast in a very exciting venture. It was a new Australian movie, and a collaborative project between Screen Queensland and Stan. The script was written by Australian Writer and Producer Stephen Lance. We filmed at the beautiful Jimbour House in Dalby Queensland, which as you can imagine was freezing in the middle of winter especially when I had to go swimming in a lake! I was cast alongside some amazing Australian actors. My role is a young Nina, played by Susie Porter. It was an incredible opportunity working alongside such talented and supportive cast and crew. The movie is set to have a cinema release around May and then will later be released on Stan as its first Original Film.
What do you hope to be doing when you leave QACI?
That’s the big question! I am currently moving between following my passion for my art and pursuing a business career.
What motto do you live by?
Be strong, but not rude; be kind but not weak; be bold, but not bully; be humble, but not timid; be proud, but not arrogant.
What advice would you give to the year 10 students?
Try everything you can. You’re in an environment where incredible opportunities are just waiting for you! Go for them. You have three years to make the most of it and trust me three years flies!
What inspires you?
I am inspired by people who are passionate and aren’t afraid to take a risk and see where it takes them.
