160916 Language Matters2Alliance Française Poetry Competition Prize Ceremony

The ceremony for “remise des prix” for the annual Alliance Française  “Concours de Poésie” 2016 took place on Friday 9th Septemeber at Alliance Française. Prize winners were invited to recite their poems in front of a large audience comprising of teachers, parents, and students from several schools in the Brisbane region. It was heartening to see such a crowd and reassuring to know that the art of poetry recital is not dead. It was a pleasure to be present and witness the recitals of our 2 awardees Jasmine Regan Feldman and Mairead Roche especially as these girls were up against students who had a considerably greater degree of exposure to French. Their performances were a credit to them and their teacher, René Marsche Beveridge who helped them in their preparation. Congratulations to you all.
