Year 11 theatre students recently participated in a one day intensive theatre session focussing on Ritual. Year 11 theatre student Aoife Kissane provides her reflection of the day.

Who is your god? How do you worship them? Is your god a person, a place, a spirit, an entity, a memory, an object, an experience? Who or what do you live for? On Sunday 10th February, Year 11 Theatre students actively participated in the annual Ritual Intensive conducted by Mr Tate. We were given the opportunity to delve into ritualistic theatre through intensive exploration into the art of creatively expressing worship.

The day included an array of physically challenging exercises that opened our minds to the possibilities of connecting to our spiritual beliefs, as well as allowing us to create our own rituals and explore what it is like to emotionally perform a sacred piece of art for a specific purpose or desire from our gods (whoever or whatever they may be). Ritual theatre allows us to open our mind, to heal, to feel power, to share energy and unleash our artistic potential through a raw, honest and transformative process.
