Welcome to our QACI community! It is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the Year 10 Coordinator for 2019. For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Melanie Osborne, and I have been with QACI since 2011 teaching in Film Studies. I have nearly 20 years of teaching experience in the Qld State system. I have spent the last five years in numerous pastoral care roles at QACI, which include House Coordinator, Connect Coach and Connect Coordinator. I am delighted to be in the role of Year 10 Coordinator this year and I am looking forward to supporting the current Year 10 cohort through their journey at this wonderful school.
This year is going to bring an amazing transformation while the Year 10 students embrace new experiences. They will understand new ways of learning in a curriculum that is rigorous, relevant, and will help them build relationships while making real-world connections. My goal is to support 'the village that raises the child' and that includes not only Parents/Guardians but the Connect Coaches and Subject Teachers who work with the students and to ensure their journey at QACI is positive, working towards good health, well-being and self-efficacy.
Students at QACI are fortunate to be presented with numerous opportunities that I encourage them to pursue. As an IB student and future global citizen, it is important to remember that learning is more than the sum of what happens in a classroom. The swimming carnival, arts excursions, guest speakers, competitions, health and well-being activities are opportunities for students to connect with others and create memories that will live with them beyond the school. I was very proud to seem them embrace these opportunities during Year 10 Camp and already observed their growth during this time.
I very much look forward to working with you and the students this year. The QACI community value your involvement and support in your child’s education!
