QACI would like to congratulate our Year 10 Debaters who competed in the first round to the Queensland Debating Union - QDU Secondary School competition this week.

"That we should ban fast fashion" was a hotly contested topic with Team 10.1 arguing the negative side of the case building on the idea that banning is not the way to go and that regulation would be more sustainable and ethical. Sabina, Caelan, Anmol, and Isabella convincingly won taking a 2 point lead against QAMST.

Team 10.2 creatively argued the affirmative against St. Joseph’s Gregory Terrace asserting that there was a moral and practical imperative to ban fast fashion due to ethical and environmental reasons. Nanna, Xanthia, Moana, and Leo held strong and took the win with a margin of one point!

Well done students and thank you Ms Elwell for championing debating at QACI.
