QACI Day One 2019 was a great day! We welcomed our Year 10s to our community with the traditional QACI Clap-In and felt the immense pride of our Year 11s and 12s as they prepare to lead the flock onwards and upwards!
Year 11 Student Media Team Member - Caitlin Baptist provides her reflection of the QACI Clap In tradition..
A new school year with new rooms, new teachers and new students! The theatre buzzed with fresh new energy as the Year 11 and 12s who just returned from their summer break chatted excitedly among themselves waiting to welcome the new Year 10s with the traditional clap-in. As I sat in my seat, I couldn't believe that I was in their position just a year ago. I still remember it…the feeling of nerves, unsure of where my journey through QACI would take me but also excited to see what life unfolds. It was comforting yet unsettling, to no longer be the juniors of the school. We are now Year 11s. Looking upon the fresh new faces and clean uniforms, I realised how much I had grown during my first year at QACI. The clap-in, for me, was definitely one of the most memorable school events in my Year 10 journey, and I am confident that it would be memorable for the new Year 10s too.
As the first few Year 10s flocked into the room, the theatre erupted into applause and cheers. With their shy smiles and nervous laughs, the new members of the school took their seats for the first time as part of our one big community.
It was shocking, yet exciting to find out that the hall was filled down to every last seat - chairs were placed right at the front of the theatre! A first for QACI, just emphasising how much the community is growing.
To the new Year 10s, welcome to the QACI flock! May you all have a memorable year!
