Children of the Black Shirt and Hoods

by Angela Betzien

Angela Betzien is an award-winning Australian playwright, whose work in the genre of Australian Gothic seeks to provide a voice to disenfranchised young people. Heavily inspired by Brecht’s Epic Theatre devices, her often lyrical and poetic texts explore the stories of those less fortunate in a theatrical and deeply moving way.Year 10 Theatre is overjoyed to present their first public performance for 2021, showcasing the skills developed through the physically demanding Pre-IB Theatre course. In an evening of Gothic Theatre, each class will present their interpretation of two of Betzien’s most celebrated plays, Children of the Black Skirt and Hoods. We hope you will join us for a night of exquisite Theatre.
