It is my
pleasure to welcome you and your students back for 2021, the final year of
their QACI and IB journey! I am looking forward to working with the Year 12
cohort once again this year as the Year Level Coordinator.
12 is a big milestone for our students, and after the challenges and changes of
2020, I know that everyone is coming back with a sense of excitement and
anticipation for the year ahead. My goal this year is to help ensure that
students feel supported, both academically and in relation to their well-being.
In order to flourish, we encourage students to be proactive in
their preparation for the year ahead. QACI’s Strive program will continue to play
a key role in your student’s education as it will help with organisation, time
management and overall wellbeing. Students received their QACI Journal in
week 2 which will be used for a range of activities including journaling,
reflection and drawing. Importantly, it also includes our Student Handbook,
with information about assessment policy and uniform expectations. In week 3
Connect Coaches will distribute to students their Assessment Planner and
provide the three-step process of creating the Semester Planner, Weekly Timetable
and To-Do List. I encourage you to check-in with your student about
these to help you gain a better insight into what they are doing and how they
are progressing both academically and emotionally.
year ahead will also include many events for the Year 12s and the entire QACI
community: The Senior Investiture, their final Aquafest, the Formal and the
final showcases of their creative work. I encourage the
students to make the most of these events and cherish the time they
have left as members of the QACI community. In years to come, these will be the
moments to look back on.
I am immensely proud of the resilience and
progress this cohort of students has made, and I look forward to working with
them again this year. As was the case last year, my role is to
support them wherever possible. This will often include liaising between them,
other staff members and home. As is the case for the students, I’m always happy
to hear from you if there is anything that I can do to help ensure that your
student has the best year possible.
