The Real World of Design

The first QACI Design Day has arrived.

It was helpful for design students gaining an insight into the real world of design, from experienced experts.

Having a full day of a diverse range of workshops, to meeting industry professionals, gaining insight to possible career pathways, learning new skills and engaging in design activities.

Some of the topics that were covered were 3D printing, client's perspective, communication in design groups and many more in the other workshops. It was absolutely amazing learning the process of 3D printing, because it helps students who are making their projects.

We also learnt skills such as communication. Communication is important in design groups and taught that it is a useful skill for any career out in the real world.

One of the main lessons I personally received was that there's always room for mistakes in design, and that we can always improve and modify our designs by collaborating and accepting feedback from others.

For example, one of the activities was drawing and designing floor plans for level 1, and our task was making sure to fulfill the client's want, needs and requirements. Afterwards, we had a chance to obtain feedback from the client and communicate to them the floor plans.

All the amazing and diverse range of workshops all have given us a deeper perspective in the world of Design, and it truly motivates us to reflect on our design projects.

Overall, so much gratitude and thanks for the DT staff for making this day happen at QACI. With their effort, organising and hard work in making sure that students will enjoy the day, is beyond amazing.

We should be grateful to our QACI teachers and staff, that not only support us in class, but also take an extra mile and effort in helping us the best way possible for our subject. These are the people we should be grateful for.
