Congratulations to Wavey in Year 10 who has been selected to
represent QACI on the Lord Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council (LMYAC) this year!
This incredible opportunity enables students to grow as leaders, acting as a
voice for their local community. LMYAC delegates are encouraged to provide
feedback on Brisbane City Council policies, local laws, services and programs
that affect young people, and generate new ideas to fulfill the environmental,
social, creative, and economic aspirations of Brisbane’s young people.
"The LMYAC Induction was a great opportunity to meet
new people my age from all over Brisbane and engage in a leadership experience
to better Brisbane. We spent the day getting to know each other and learning
what we could be doing in the community as well as some fun games and
activities to build leadership skills and understanding. We learnt about the
wards we belonged to and the Councillor for that ward who we could come to for
help with any community projects. I can’t wait for the next meeting where we
can begin creating projects to enhance the community.” - Wavey, Year 10.
