Last term, students at QACI who submitted their application for a future leadership position in the 2019 Student Director team were fortunate to be able to head to North Stradbroke Island to test their leadership capability.  Wenonah Van Damme, Year 11 provides us with her reflection...

The beautiful North Stradbroke Island was the perfect setting for the Year 11 Leadership Camp. 30 Year 11 students elected for leadership spent three days working on our leadership skills, as well as spending some time getting to know each other and celebrating the end of a busy term 3.

We worked in leadership groups, and developed around an hour of leadership-related activities. Ultimate Frisbee on the beach tired us out just enough to lay down for some stargazing on our first night in the hostel. Day two was filled with activities, ranging from trust exercises, to team games and even lego challenges. We also managed to sneak in some swimming on the beautiful cylinder beach. Day three was a beautiful hike around some of the islands highlights, including the groves, point lookout and of course the gelato shop.

Some of the camps highlights for me included seeing whales, turtles and dolphins after our hike to point lookout, as well as taking walks along beautiful cylinder beach to watch the sunrise. It was certainly a good way to end the term.

We look forward to the 2019 leadership team using their newly honed skills to support the QACI students and community.
