Silicon Valley, the technological birthplace of many great businesses and creative ideas, was one of three locations that 26 Year 11 QACI goslings visited over the September break. It was our absolute pleasure to accompany them on their study tour exploring some of the big names in Business and Design. In partnership with Student Horizons, we planned an exciting, stimulating itinerary to allow our budding entrepreneurs access to the big guns of international business. We visited and engaged with innovation leaders at the likes of Amazon, PayPal, AltaSea, Intel, AutoDesk, the Federal Reserve Bank, Disney Animation Studios and Nike, to highlight just a few.

Sure, occasionally it may have sounded like a very expensive shopping holiday- outlet mall shopping, an awesome day at Universal Studios going on EVERY ride and drinking the infamous Butter Beer and numerous trips to In ‘n’ Out Burger. However, our goslings impressed and excited us with their commitment to learning and inquiring. With each industry leader we met, they asked intelligent questions and shared great ideas in a mature and professional way. Visits to a variety of Californian Universities inspired our students to consider their future options and how they might best get there.

We also had a fantastic time and made some life-long friends when immersing ourselves in the local high school culture at Eagle Rock and Phineaus Banning High Schools. The school pride at these schools inspired our goslings to think creatively about how we might, in future, welcome others to our QACI community – watch this space!
