The Propel Dance Showcase was held Wednesday 13 October and was the final Dance showcase for our departing Year 12 dance students. The showcase started with short dance pieces that were choreographed and performed by Year 12 Students with a variety of themes represented from the complexity of dealing with guilt to fun technical burlesque jazz styles. Three years of hard work and persistence led to this moment, and they did not disappoint. Whether it was outstanding group performances or superb individual performances, the audience were dazzled with an unforgettable night of contemporary dance performances.
Act two was a representation of theme and narratives dealing with stereotypes, generalisations and the Big Five personality traits. With dance titles such as Openness, Lazy, Neurotiscism, Extraversion, Impulse, Outspoken and Conscientiousness, the personality traits were evident in the style and energy of the dances on display.
As a student who doesn't take dance, I can only imagine the hours of work put in behind the scenes to perfect each movement and correct their timing with the music. The lighting on the stage was also top notch, and it definitely added to the already excellent performance.
Congratulations to Year 12 and Dance Teacher Elizabeth Collyer for a fabulous showcase and one that was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended.
