It was a nostalgic night for the Film Class of 2020 as they attended their final film showcase – Cinematica. Cinematica 2020 was the 13th time a graduating cohort from QACI film studies publicly screened their final films.
The audience consisting of the filmmakers and family entered the theatre to watch their very last showcase, eagerly awaiting to watch the array of films. The films being shown were a part of one of the IB Film assessment pieces – the Collaborative Project. Students adopted different filmmaking roles in order to work together to create an original film. The films ranged from light-hearted comedy that made the audience chuckle to suspenseful horror that kept the audience on the edge of their seats. The audience screamed and cheered for the films being showcased, of course applauding each time to acknowledge the hard work and effort of the filmmakers.
The Film Class of 2020 has faced a challenging and unexpected year. However, they have pushed through it all – finally at the completion of their IB Film Studies course. Thank you to the film teachers for their guidance throughout the past 3 years. Your love of film as an art form has inspired us all to challenge our filmmaking and storytelling skills, as well as make us develop a greater appreciation for film as a medium.
