Welcome back, QACI friends!
I begin my second year as chaplain here with a better understating of QACI culture and some familiar faces to greet me, as well as gratitude that I live in a country where we can gather in person safely and without fear.
As chaplain, I occupy a privileged position – I am not a member of the teaching staff and have no educational role within the school. Nor am I a counselor – this is ably managed by our fabulous Guidance Officers Katrina and Kym. My role is primarily around the spiritual and emotional wellbeing of the QACI family. I am a listener, problem solver and facilitator. I lend an ear to anyone who needs to talk, to cry, or to figure out the next step in their journey. I can proofread essays, help with referencing or accompany students who need to talk to their teachers. I can find food banks and help figure out when professional assistance is required. Ultimately, I am here to support the QACI community as they work their way through the IB into the big wide world beyond.
I look forward to getting to know our new families and students as we learn and grow this year, and invite anyone who would like to learn more about what I do or who would just like to have a chat to contact me through email. Alternatively, you can often find me sitting beside Librarian Nita on level seven.
We are going to have a great year!
