“
There’s going to be a musical!”, proclaims Richmont High’s teacher,
played by the wonderful and talented Year 12 theatre student Anna Madrigal.
Its fair to say a QACI musical
has been long awaited, proven by the full theatre audience on Thursday
and Friday night.
Richmont High is an original production, with a
mix of songs ranging from the classics such as Carousel and Chicago, as well
modern shows like Dear Evan Hanson and High School musical. Disney also
didn’t miss out, with the all the favourite princesses and some making an appearance!
QACI's enrichment 'musical theatre' group certainly didn’t disappoint. The audience sang
along to all their favourites such as the time warp from Rocky Horror,
and there were plenty of one line laughs scattered throughout the show.
The performance
followed the story of Richmont High School who finally decides it is time to put on a
musical. The story was filled with romance, classic ballads and of
course some fabulously strong dance routines.
Collaboratively during timetabled enrichment lessons, students put together the
show's storyline, and directed their own musical numbers and scenes.
Every student also put in valuable time of their own to ensure the show ran smoothly.
Congratulations
to the entire cast of Richmont High, as well as Ms Morris, Ms Place and
Ms Freeman for such a great production.
QACI is already buzzing for the
next performance - perhaps we've started something BIG!
