A Cacophony of Spirit and Passion

RunFest 2022 was a cacophony of nothing but QACI spirit and passion and was a much needed community get together after a cancelled Aquafest in term 1. The day started with individual House meetings to hype ourselves up with war cries and giving our banners a whirl. The competitive runners warmed the track up first, and it was a blissfully sunny day to travel the course, whether that be running or walking. The students definitely took advantage of this to warm down from the busy term.

During this, we had a new addition to the festivities; Cake Decorating. Each Pod had the opportunity to design a cake to the theme ‘Equity and Unity’. This was an excellent demonstration of the QACI values as we saw from each House scenes of cracked egg yolk, beaches, pride parades and tiny teddy weddings come to life on our newfound canvases. Each Pod had their own explanation as to how their unique designs met the criteria, and each cake looked great. An excellent cumulation of QACI culture was seen in the cakes and the rainbow clothing items spotted around the park, as people paired it with their House colours to show pride during the June Pride Month.

To bring the day to a close, each House participated in small rotational activities to compete with each other’s skills, communication, and teamwork. The Year 10’s were unashamedly engaged in the activities, the Year 11’s stepped up as leaders and the Year 12’s maintained the energy they have done from the past 2 years.

Congratulations to Vivezza who went the extra mile with their fantastic cakes and whose participation and enthusiasm won them the day. Our Golden Goose Yulgoo will be kept warm with a yellow scarf it seems.

Thank you to Ms Jennings and Ms Pickett for a memorable day out in the sun.
