Soaring to Seattle - Pacific Honours Ensemble Program

Congratulations to Jessica Klaverstyn, Year 11 music student at QACI for her recent scholarship success to attend the 12th Annual Pacific Honours Ensemble Program taking place in Seattle in November this year.

The Pacific Honours Ensemble Program (PHEP) is jointly hosted by the Young Conservatorium (the pre-tertiary program of Griffith University) and the Western International Band Clinic held in Seattle, Washington, USA. Students who are members of the Young Conservatorium Wind Orchestra at Griffith University were given the opportunity to audition earlier this year, with a total of 24 places available and 4 students being offered a scholarship placement. Jessica was accepted in the Young Conservatorium program - a prestigious program for talented young musicians at the early age of 13, further developing her passion for the trumpet.

As a scholarship placement, Jessica will have the privilege of all expenses paid trip including four days of educational sightseeing in Seattle,  followed by an intensive four-day music program. Recipients will join over 600 instrumentalists in four ensembles, Firebird Honor Band, Phoenix Honor Band, Sunbird Honor Band & Thunderbird Honor Band. With such a dynamic program, the four-day music program will also involve rehearsals and performances with six different international and national guest conductors. 

The trip will take place in November this year.
