QUT partnership PDF Print E-mail

In this partnership, QUT will benefit from the articulated route for the state's most talented and high performing students. Our students will gain from an early measured introduction to tertiary life that will better prepare them for what many young people consider to be the culture shock of the first year university experience.

Whilst QUT is our primary partner, we have also established key relationships with other tertiary institutions such as Griffith University and The University of Queensland enabling our students to benefit from their arts-rich programs.

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Program allows students to gain entry into universities around the world, and although a student's program may be enriched through participation in joint programs between the Creative Industries Academy and QUT, they are under no obligation to further their studies at QUT.

QUT/Academy Partnership Benefits

As part of the Queensland University of Technology’s educational precinct, the Queensland Academy for Creative Industries continues to forge a meaningful partnership with the University to provide key opportunities for students. For 2008, QACI has negotiated special entry into the QUT START program. Students meeting QUT’s academic entry requirements need only complete one QUT course and gain their IB Diploma to receive guaranteed entry into specified Creative Industries courses. Several QACI staff have been recognised as official QUT Tutors and are able to deliver key coursework on site. In addition to this, we continue to work with QUT to establish Advance Credit arrangements for successful completion of various IB subjects.

In 2008, this is an option for several Film and Theatre students. In addition, all QACI students have associate membership of QUT libraries. This means our students can access a richer range of research and study materials to enhance their study of the International Baccalaureate. Students can access QUT libraries seven days per week and have access options after school and during flexible study time. QACI staff regularly liaise with colleagues at QUT with the view to developing curricular alignment and synergies within their programs.

Bright Sparks

At the Academy, we are committed to educating the whole family.  On February 4, over fifty parents joined us in a fabulous seminar, lead by the Buzan Centre's master trainer Jennifer Goddard. Jennifer's lively presentation outlined the obstacles to effective study and how we can unlock the creative potential of our brain through visualisation techniques including mind mapping. She also led seminars with all our students and staff as part of our Orientation Program
