‘Information literacy forms the basis for lifelong learning. It is common to all disciplines, to all learning environments, and to all levels of education. It enables learners to master content and extend their investigations, become more self-directed, and assume greater control over their own learning.’ (ACRL, 2007)
The QueenslandAcademy for Creative Industries promotes information literacy as a keystone to lifelong learning based on a culture of collaboration and focus on student learning. The Academy aims to develop innovative and creative students prepared to enter the global marketplace with skills for a lifetime of independent learning. One of our major purposes is to integrate the teaching of information skills into the curriculum both developmentally and sequentially with a focus on inquiry based learning and building deep knowledge..
