Students encouraged to mind their own business (A market day with a difference)
On Thursday 15th March, QACI will hold its first “Market Day”. As part of the Pre-IB Business and Management program, 75 highly creative Year 10 students have formed 15 business enterprises offering a range of products and services aimed at the student and teacher market. This is the first, and hopefully the beginning of a tradition of annual QACI Market Days.
The students have formed their own businesses and have learned valuable real-life experience on what it takes to set up and run a small business. Topics have included human resource management, accounting and finance, sales and marketing and production.
Some of the innovative products and services designed by the students include:
- computer accessories
- hair accessories
- key rings
- cake pops
- and many other delights!
IB Business and Management is one of the subjects available to students in Group 3 – Individuals and Society as part of the IB Diploma. It is a popular choice among QACI students and IB students throughout the world for its real-world significance.
Teachers, Rose Harris-Dixon and Corinne Jennings, hope to encourage and inspire their students to consider combining their creative talents with a business perspective.
Who knows… these talented students could be future entrepreneurs?
