Hungarian new media artist Istvan Horkay works with digital collages and flash animation. Informed by a background in painting, his work takes form in heavily layered images and footage that play on the concept of encoding and the double meaning of the bisected word. His works are visually complex and are often challenging to interpret, providing a rich visual and conceptual experience for viewers.

He has worked both as a solo artist and in collaboration with internationally renowned director and artist Peter Greenaway since 2000. Horkay's work has been exhibited extensively internationally over the past four decades and is collected by a number of international institutions.
