The iPAD is a hit with students!
There has been so much interest in the iPAD that we've been trying them out at QACI. Apple has kindly donated 20 iPADs to Visual Arts for a short term loan and by all accounts they've come up with some special ways of using them. The iPAD in the eLearning Centre has been packed with a range of apps and we hope students and staff will try them out and add their suggestions in the next few weeks. Students have also expressed interest in designing apps for education.

Jennie Jahnke and Glenda Hobdell were this week re-accredited as holders of the Digital Pedagogy Licence Advanced. This must be renewed every 3 years and the requirement was to be guest speakers in an EQ iConnect State-wide web conference. The presentations were enjoyed by participants and were a great learning experience for both teachers. Many of our teeachers are Digital Pedadogy Licence holders or working toward their accreditation.

QACI BLACKBOARD
Students access online learning materials and interact in collaborative spaces in Blackboard virtual classrooms for each subject course at the Academy. Education Queensland has developed a site called ‘The Learning Place’ through which students login to Blackboard, which is the Learning Management System used in Education Queensland schools. An outstanding leadership opportunity for students at all year levels is participation in the Apple Angels Team. As the title suggests, these students are ever present helpers in the quest to make ICT integral to learning. Since inception in 2007, the Angels have supported ICT staff in laptop rollout, staffed the student ICT Helpdesk, conducted ICT tours of the Academy, assisted in the rollout of new software, attended conferences as ICT support, to name only a few of the opportunities which have been taken up.
Each year, students apply to be part of the team. In 2010, the students have become a recognised part of the student Leadership team with the important induction of our first student ICT Director.
