What better way to introduce students to business than to have them run their own business?!
Thursday 15 March saw the inaugural QACI Market Day hosted by the year 10 Pre-IB Business & Management classes. The lead up to the day built anticipation amongst QACI staff and students through poster advertising and awesome ads on assembly. The year 10s have been working on their Introduction to Business unit this term that started with researching their favourite businesses and famous entrepreneurs to inspire them to great enterprising activities of their own.
We had 15 group-run enterprises where the students worked cooperatively in teams to develop their marketing campaigns and their products. They even had to pitch their product ideas to their teachers (Dragon’s Den style) in order to gain a small investment to get their business off the ground. Market Day had a range of products and services on offer including body art, milkshakes (both Sexy and QACI), keychains, Mac accessories and loads of other sweet treats! The QACI community was incredibly supportive of the event and huge sales were made. All profits made will be going to the charity Caritas– a Catholic Church group working with young people.
