QACI’s Vocal Collective and VOX joined with many other Brisbane leading choral organisations to perform at Brisbane Sings which was staged at QPAC last weekend. Five hundred massed voices sang to a mesmerised an appreciative audience with songs from a range of genres including jazz, pop, swing and gospel.
Amongst the repertoire QACI’s Vocal Collective covered Sway, of Dean Martin fame, and West Side Story’s Somewhere, and the following accolade received from a delighted audience member sums up how we all feel about our talented voices here at the Academy:
“I wanted to say how impressive you all were on Sunday evening. I sat and enjoyed the production as a whole, but in particular, was immensely proud of your covers of the pieces, “Sway” and “Somewhere”. Mr C’s sax tones just added that bit of Latin flavour to complement your wonderful tones and harmonies. Congratulations to both Matthew Christensen and Kristina Kelman who supported you in what was a sublimely brief sample of your wonderful choral talents.”
Brisbane Sings is an annual event which showcases vocal talent from across the greater Brisbane area. To find out more, visit www.brisbanesings.com.au
